It’s important to make the right choice in any commercial relationship. You need to ask lots of questions to find out more about your potential partner, you need to establish trust and ensure ambitions can be met as the relationship develops. It needs time and patience.
“We’ve been keeping in touch with you guys over the last 2 years, you’ve never been pushy but have always been there answering our many questions – you’ve never said NO and we love that attitude to everything!” so says Gayle Tong, Talent & Development Partner at Ann Summers.
Their expectations of Nimble were rigorous – rightly so. It’s a process we value because we want to ensure the relationships with our clients are positive too. We may be a cloud-based company, but first and foremost we’re people, and we like working alongside our clients to deliver their great expectations.
That two-year search Gayle mentioned arose out of the company’s ambitions to deliver their 5-year strategy to attract, retain & develop great people. It’s a process which begins in Retail, will move into HO and Logistics and end with their self-employed Party Ambassadors.
As Gayle points out, “We have a strong learning culture at Ann Summers, demonstrated in retail product knowledge and competent, confident colleagues. These are critical to our stores’ success.”
They are outcomes that Nimble are excited to support.
So why choose Nimble after that extensive search? Gayle is very clear on that: “We have a great deal of successful content, we wanted an authoring tool to bring our own unique brand content to life. It also needed to be simple and easy to use and work with our current systems in store and Head Office.”
And Gayle’s final point means a lot to us: “We love to have great working relationships where we can get great advice and support.”
So now Ann Summers has joined our Nimble Community, what’s next for them? Over to Gayle again: “We’ve started building excitement about elearning as we incorporate it into the re-launch of our Retail Talent Academy, I didn’t want the Academy & elearning to be separate. So, we’re taking a blended learning approach where colleagues will use elearning, complete Learning Journals and participate in a series of soft skills workshops to support their development and career with Ann Summers.”
There are ‘great expectations’ here and it seems appropriate to quote Charles Dickens, from that very book: ‘Take nothing on its looks; take everything on evidence. There’s no better rule.’
That’s exactly what Ann Summers did and we’re excited to deliver those expectations!
