Job Description: Scrum Master
Reporting to: Head of Technology
Location: Remote

We’re looking for a strong experienced Scrum Master who has ideally worked on technology transformation projects and can offer a wider scope of support to the team and business than just running ceremonies and daily standups.
As a Scrum Master you’ll help the team to understand and embrace the Scrum framework and its values, and coach the team to work together effectively and efficiently. The Scrum Master also helps the team to identify and remove any obstacles that may hinder their progress, and ensures that the team is delivering high-quality, valuable software that meets the customers’ needs. Working as a servant leader, the primary responsibility of the Scrum Master is to create an environment of continual learning and improvement through the adoption and application of Agile principles and practices. This includes not only working within the team, but also the wider organisation. Where possible the Scrum Master will introduce agile engineering practices and encourage the use of automation wherever possible amongst the team.
Responsibilities
- Help the team to understand and embrace the Scrum framework and its values
- Coach the team on agile principles and practices, with particular focus on maximising flow of value and the importance of transparency
- Coach teams to reflect on the effectiveness of their agile process, advocate for self-organisation, and encourage problem solving
- Aid the team in identifying and removing obstacles or impediments that may hinder their progress
- Act as a servant leader for the team, facilitating discussions and decision-making within the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement
- Help the team to visualise and measure their progress, maintaining focus on delivering high-quality, valuable software that meets the customer’s needs
- Monitor team performance and metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
- Be a partner to the product owner to support the continuous flow of value to the customer
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the team and other stakeholders
- Promote a culture of transparency, trust, and continuous improvement within the team
- Protect the team from outside distractions and interruptions and ensure that the team has everything they need to be successful
- Implement changes and steps to increase the team’s effectiveness, to aid better and smarter delivery
Essential Skills/Experience
- 2+ years of relevant experience within a Scrum Master role
- Good working experience in an agile environment, preferably in Scrum and/or Kanban
- Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and software engineering practices
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, and to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- An inquisitive personality that is always looking for continuous improvement opportunities
- A focus on attention to detail and efficiency improvement within the team, utilising current team metrics and past experiences wherever possible
- Strong mentoring and servant leadership skills
- An effective communicator breaking down complex topics into language the wider business can understand
- Passionate about building strong working relationships and high performing teams
- Ability and willingness to mentor other less experienced scrum masters through the Scrum Master guild
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Understanding of technology and development concepts to further support the team and Tech Lead would be beneficial, and would certainly provide added value
- Experience in elearning standards
- Experience supporting and deputising for short periods the Product Owner role when needed
