Nimble’s annual Nimble Community Day and Awards took place on 18 September at Stonehouse Court Hotel in Gloucestershire, and this year was extra-special: Nimble staff and customers celebrated 10 years since the product’s official launch!
The majority of the sessions were led by Learning Adviser Hannah Davies. Nimble customers had the opportunity to explore and discuss topics such as Prompt Engineering: The Secret to Getting What You Want From AI, Knowledge Sharing: How Do You Use Nimble at Your Organisation?, and Multimedia Creation on a Budget. It wasn’t just Hannah presenting on the day; the Nimble Customer Success Team also led an interactive workshop titled Developing a Robust Elearning Strategy. In addition, Rachel Bates of National Nuclear Laboratory delivered a fascinating case study detailing how one of Nimble’s longest-standing customers uses the product to ensure high-quality training of all their staff.
The Nimble Awards winners were announced during Nimble Community Day. The awards, which showcase excellence in elearning, were presented by Nimble’s Founder and Managing Director Neil Hyde, and Alex Hathway, Commercial Director. The event was compèred by Learning Adviser Hannah Davies.
Each finalist’s entry was brought to life with a short video interview detailing their approach to using Nimble and the impact it’s had on their organisation, alongside comments from the judging panel.
Neil Hyde and Alex Hathway announced the three winners from the impressive list of finalists for the categories: Course of the Year, Positive Business Impact and Positive Community Impact.
The 2024 Nimble Awards winners and their categories are:
Course of the Year
This award was presented to an organisation or individual who displayed excellence in the design and delivery of an elearning course through Nimble.
Judges looked for a course that demonstrates sound instructional design principles, delivered in a creative or engaging way. They looked for evidence of working towards a project brief with key stakeholder engagement throughout, and a clear focus on learner experience. Evidence against success criteria was also considered by the judges.
Woodland Trust: UK GDPR Refresher
The Woodland Trust is one of the UK’s leading conservation charities, focused on protecting woodlands, maintaining ancient forests and preventing habitat loss for native species. This course was created to bring the often dry subject of GDPR to life for employees requiring a short refresher; the aim was to ensure that the whole team understood how to fulfil their obligations under the law, but to present the information in an engaging and easily understood way.
Judges comments: “A high quality, well tailored and focused refresher course. Professionally presented with excellent video content and a considered approach towards accessibility. Good relevance for Woodland Trust employees and the purpose and importance of the training was made clear from the start. Effort was clearly made to make the subject matter more engaging through the use of examples and interactions. Branding and graphics were consistent, crisp and represented the organisation well.”
Positive Business Impact
This award was presented to the organisation or individual demonstrating significant business impact through the use of elearning.
This could have been an internal project, a commercial venture, reseller initiative or professional course build. Entrants may also wished to highlight how elearning has had an impact on their response to ongoing economic challenges, and the rise of remote and hybrid working. Judges looked for clear objectives for the use of elearning, a well-considered project plan, defined success criteria, marketing campaign (if applicable), and an indication of the performance improvement or revenue generation achieved.
Marsh Finance
As a FCA-regulated provider of car finance, training is absolutely critical for Marsh to ensure they provide the best possible service while considering the needs of vulnerable customers and keeping on top of the latest regulations. They use Nimble to create, deliver and track online training, keeping detailed records over multiple years.
Judges comments: “This course has benefitted significantly from being meticulously pre-planned, implemented and then further refined with feedback loops at the end. The result has been for the company to exceed their objectives and deliver substantial business impact aligned to the business strategy.”
Positive Community Impact
This award was presented to the organisation or individual demonstrating significant community impact through the use of elearning; this could be within the local community, or as part of a wider positive societal force for change.
All types of organisations were invited to apply, but this category is particularly suited to charities and non-profit organisations, or to businesses that have completed a community or sustainability project.
Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd (SATCoL)
In this entry, the trading arm of the Salvation Army highlighted the impact of the Environmental Awareness courses they provide for colleagues across the business. Their approach to training largely involves providing staff with access to a large and ever-growing catalogue of high-quality courses, allowing them to self-enrol on those modules that interest them or are relevant to their role. Tying into SATCoL’s annual Management Conference theme, Dare to CARE for the Environment, signups for the course skyrocketed.
Judges comments: “To make their educational programme more effective, SATCoL have divided their Environmental Awareness course into two modules. This simplified and relatable structure allows learners to first understand information around the environment, raise awareness of the issues, highlight the importance of what SATCoL is achieving, and then explore practical ways for their colleagues to become more sustainable both at work and at home. The project’s alignment with SATCoL’s triple bottom line targets and its contribution to winning the Charity Retail Association’s Environmental and Sustainability Award in 2024 are notable achievements.”
